Fine Luxury Rug Cleaning in Austin, Texas
Even if it’s not on the floor, your luxury rug still needs cleaning now and then. You likely know that passing your vacuum over it, or even using its upholstery tool, isn’t enough to clean it. Because of its brilliant colors, you wouldn’t dare try to wash it yourself or even ask some random carpet cleaning business to shampoo it. That’s where our professional luxury rug cleaners come in. At Aegis, we pride ourselves on the quality of our high-end rug cleaning services.
What Makes a Luxury Rug
A luxury rug is not just a floor covering. It’s a one-of-a-kind work of art woven from the most sumptuous materials, including the highest-quality wool and silk. You might not even risk putting your luxury rug on the floor but instead choose to display it as a museum-worthy tapestry.
Why Your Luxury Rug Needs Us
You know what happens in museums when irreplaceable artworks become damaged or need a bit of cleaning. The museum brings in specialists who know how to clean and repair artwork without damaging it further. The same is true of our premium rug cleaning specialists when it comes to your luxury rug.
A rug that consists entirely of such textiles as lambs’ wool or silk needs to be cleaned with great care and skill. Wool can felt up and shrink if it’s washed incorrectly. Poor handling can also destroy its wonderful hand. A
wool rug that’s subject to harsh chemicals and violent mechanical treatment can also be stripped of lanolin. This is a waxy substance that protects wool from the weather and keeps it clean. Silk can also shrink, lose its luster and tear. It is famous for showing off brilliant dyes, and without the skill required in proper luxury silk rug cleaning, those colors can fade.
Our Designer and Luxury Rug Care
We’re different from other rug cleaning businesses in that we will wash your luxury rug by hand. It doesn’t matter if the rug is large or small. Actually touching your rug is a guide to how best to clean it. Using a machine made to wash a rug that may have collected years of dirt and grime can be disastrous. Adding harsh detergents to the vigorous action of a washing machine might be even worse when it comes to your luxury rug. The cleansers we use are
eco-friendly. They break down naturally and won’t linger in the fibers of your rug.
When your rug comes into our care, we’ll first inspect it to see what needs to be done. Then, we’ll use compressed air to blow away the dirt and dust from the fabric. We’ll also put your rug over a screen that gently shakes free the contaminants loosened by the air. Our professionals understand that hard treatment at this point can actually grind dirt into the fibers of your rug.
After the screen and the compressed air, we will vacuum the rug and use an air scrubber. This is a device with a filter so fine that it can remove microscopic pollutants such as mold spores, pollen and even pathogens such as viruses and bacteria. This treatment makes sure your rug's fibers are as clean as they can be before the handwashing.
In the next phase, we check the rug’s dyes. This lets us know what kinds of cleansers we can use on the rug without making the dyes run or fade. We also check the direction of the pile. This helps us find stains and damage and also helps us choose the right cleanser. At this time, we will also check for pet accidents. You might not actually see the spot where your pet had an accident, but you probably noticed that your rug had an unpleasant smell. We will clean both sides of your entire rug and not just spot clean.
When we finally handwash your rug, we won’t put it through a dryer like the one you have in your home or the ones found in a laundromat. These machines are much too aggressive for a luxury rug. What we’ll do is unfurl your rug over an air bed and use waves of air to dry it. We don’t hang our customers’ rugs because that can stretch the rug out of shape.
How long your rug takes to dry depends on how large and thick it is and what it’s made out of. Wool, for example, takes a longer time to dry. Usually, it takes about two weeks between picking up the rug at your home and returning it once it’s cleaned. When the rug is finally dry, we may also add protectants to strengthen the fibers and save it from pests such as moths.
Other Ways We’re Different
Another way we’re different from other rug cleaning companies is that we come and pick up the rug from your home and then bring it back. You’ll never have to wonder how you can possibly roll up a nearly room-sized rug and fit it into your vehicle.
When to Have Your Luxury Rug Cleaned
When it comes to your luxury rug, we recommend it be cleaned once a year. If it’s on the floor in an area with a lot of foot traffic, you might want to have it washed more often. We are proud to serve customers not just in Austin but also in such nearby communities as
Bee Cave, Pemberton, Driftwood, Senna Hills and
Mirador. Indeed, our reputation is such that we wash luxury rugs from around the world. Just read the testimonials from our clients.
